Photo gallery: Supporting young sex workers in Malawi

Chifundo* and Sainabu* are two young mothers and sex workers. In the photo story below find out why they became sex workers and the challenges they face in their work.

Both women have been supported by our partner Pakachere Institute of Health and Development Communication through projects funded by UNFPA and Open Initiative for Southern Africa. Pakachere works to reduce HIV transmission among female sex workers and improve the quality of life for those living with HIV. It does this by promoting access to sexual and reproductive health services. It also addresses the various human rights abuses perpetrated by clients, as well as law enforcers, who wrongly apply laws related to female sex work.
